We intend to design the cross-section profile of a simply supported staright beam under a sinusoidal point load
at the mid-point. Our objective is to keep the deflection at two points that are quarter distance away from
either end as low as possible. The volume of material is the resource constraint. Set up the problem, do the
sensitivity analysis, and obtain the design equation. Substantive extra credit for those
who implement the optimality criteria algorithm.

Write down your project problem in continuous form. If that is not applicable for a good reason,
discretized form is fine. Write the necessary conditions and set up the problem for using the optimality
criteria method of solution.
